Professor Vadim Vasilyev has been elected a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences!

9 January, 2022

We are glad to congratulate our dear colleague and co-director of the Center on this great event! Vadim Valeryevich is both a philosopher and an excellent historian of philosophy. His works on the history of philosophy, philosophy of mind and freedom of will occupy a prominent place in modern Russian philosophy. This is a great holiday for us!

Vadim Valerievich proposed the concept of local interactionism to solve the problem of consciousness and ultracompatibilism as a solution to the problem of free will, he also developed a method of argumentative phenomenology and a project of phenomenalistic ontology. In the history of philosophy, Vadim Valerievich understood the intricacies of Kant's marginalia and the most subtle moments of Kant's metaphysics, traced the history of the development of philosophical psychology in the 18th century, solved the mystery of Wittgenstein's visit to Moscow (it was believed that no one could restore this history) and recently published a fundamental study of the philosophy of David Hume, which changes the established view of both his figure and the significance of the ideas of this outstanding philosopher. Vadim Valeryevich founded a whole school of Russian analytical philosophy, which brings together people who have an interest in the topics of classical philosophy. In addition to the position of co-director of the Center, he also holds the post of Head of the Department of History of Foreign Philosophy of Lomonosov Moscow State University and is Chairman of the Expert Council of the Higher Attestation Commission on Philosophy.

We would also like to congratulate Yulia Vadimovna Sineokaya on her election as a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences! Yulia Vadimovna is a brilliant philosopher and head of the Department of the History of Western Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
