The lecture of David Chalmers was held at MSU June 14th

15 June, 2018

Our Center is grateful to all people who came to the lecture! Thank you very much!

The lecture aroused unprecedented interest, more than 600 listeners came to it, and the organizers even had to move it to a larger audience. More than 400 people joined the online broadcast. Of course, these figures cannot be compared to football matches, but for a popular scientific lecture this is a huge success.

The Center thanks all the people who showed interest in this lecture! Without you, it would be meaningless.

Chalmers' lecture consisted of three sections:

  1. Historical, where he focused on the formulations of the Hard Problem in the past. Russian researchers such as Pavlov, Dubrovsky and Vasiliev were also mentioned here;
  2. The section devoted to the Hard problem, the questions why consciousness is so difficult to explain, why it can not be reduced to physical properties, like many other natural phenomena;
  3. The last part of the lecture was devoted to possible solutions to the Hard problem of consciousness, among which Chalmers sympathizes with panpsychism and quantum interactionism.
