The sessions of the Greenland conference: Daniel Dennett and Derk Pereboom

15 June, 2018

Below you will find a video of session with Derk Pereboom and Daniel Dennett.

Pereboom claims that both libertarians and compatibilists are wrong about free will and moral responsibility and defends “Qualitative Inaccuracy Hypothesis”. It’s a statement that introspection only represents conscious experience as having phenomenal features but it’s just a mistake, in fact conscious experience doesn’t have any distinctive phenomenal features. Dennett agrees with Pereboom about nature of phenomenal features but doesn’t take his position on free will.

Enjoy watching!

We are continuing to publish the sessions which we videotaped during the conference “The problems of consciousness and free will” that the Center for Consciousness Studies organized in Greenland.
